...AND THE SKY IS THE LIMIT OF WHAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE!
Piano lessons at an early age awaken realms of childhood cognitive and relational thinking that are difficult, if not impossible, to access without exposure to music. Extensive studies have shown that the child's journey with "organized sound" in fact begins inside the mother. From the steadiness of her heart beat to her quiet humming at night (or the familiar approach of her footsteps) -- all of these gain new significance as soon as the child begins regular musical studies. Elementary rhythm, melody, and related ear-training, note-reading, and singing become the essence of active enjoyment at the piano as early as age four. Parental participation is highly encouraged at this stage, including regular attendance at studio lessons, close to the bench of the teacher and the seated youngster.
Strengthening finger dexterity, developing the ear and a reliable rhythmic feel, gradually improving command of "keyboard geography" (note-reading), plus growing enjoyment of the sheer sound of one's own playing -- these and many more are the gifts of continuing piano study at the graded levels from the early school years through high school, college, university (and possible conservatory). Listening to -- and hearing -- the increasing splendor of one's musical abilities holds the key to a mature and personalized performance style, with technical and interpretive abilities capable of reaching the attentive listener very deeply. We increasingly master the "inner" means by which our grand instrument sings and speaks...
Music comes to us at different times in our life. In the process, your teacher will be your guide through many topics ranging from the study of traditional literature ("the masters") to experimental improvisation (classical, jazz, and popular), music theory, chords, and keyboard harmony, song-writing (and other possible composition), music history, ensemble and sight-playing (including duets), and other invaluable explorations for your foundational and artistic growth.
